Appalachian Electric Cooperative is unique in that it is operated on a non-profit basis, and is owned by the members which it serves. Each member has one vote that he or she may cast at the Annual Meeting to determineCo-op by-laws and elect a Board of Directors. The Cooperative was formed in 1940, by a group of dedicated citizens determined to find a way to bring electricity to our rural area.
